Item 1: Clip
- Type of bias: assumption
- Analysis: A lot of situations in that misunderstanding
appears so many times just because people judge too quickly, not considering
things carefully. For example, A wife seeing her husband with a knife and
the cat with blood immediately thinks that he has just killed the cat. A girl
thinks her boy friend is "playing with himself" when she sees him
watching "sensitive" scene on TV and doing something with his hands
without knowing that he's just polishing his shoes. There are many misunderstanding situations for people to conclude quickly
and the bad results can created.

- Type of bias: Prejudice.
- Analysis: The two folk-songs show the prejudice in favour of women. Every behaviour in their families, they must suffer from constraints, in spite of stern and nonsense ones. When women get married, they always conform to harsh concepts of feudal system. That out-of date notions ties down women, does not enable them to choose the way of life on their own and overcome the border lines that society unfairly established.
Item 3: Picture
_ Type of bias: Discrimination, prejudice.
_ Analysis: The comic show 2 men, the left one is a
white person and the right one is a black person. The black one is in jail,
while the while one sees the black one through jar. This is racial
discrimination and is against the human rights. It is also a negative judgment
or opinion formed about a group without knowledge of the facts. The black
people is taken prejudiced by other group of people.

ReplyDeleteYour entry is well-done generally. In details, I have a comment for the Item 3. According to me, this picture shows that there are a black man and a white man, they are seeing eeach other through a bar,not in the jail as you said. In this case, this bar is the barrier between two sides, the black and the white and it is surely the racial discrimination.

After reading your entry, I have some following comments:
Your entry’s source is quite various and I like the way you analyze those items.
However, I suggest you some points:
In the 1st item, you need to show that the video gives which of the terms ( stereotype, prejudice, discrimination or scapegoating ).In my opinion, it expresses prejudice. You are right to talk that all situations make misunderstanding when some people haven’t considered everything carefully yet.
I don’t quite understand about the prejudice of the 2nd folk- song in the 2nd item, it hasn’t really been clearly.
I think 3rd item’s level has been higher than discrimination.
I hope that some comment is useful for you to review your entry.
