Item 1: Chứng điếc của cào cào

                             

Một giáo sư côn trùng học nghiên cứu tâm sinh lý của loại cào cào. Ông bắt một con, để trên giấy và hô to:

- Cào cào, nhảy.

Cào cào nhảy tung rồi lại rơi xuống tờ giấy. Ông bèn lấy kéo cắt hai cẳng cào cào, để lại trên giấy và hô to:

- Cào cào, nhảy .

Lần này cào cào đứng im, không nhảy, nó nhìn láo lơ. Nhà côn trùng học lấy giấy bút ghi một cách thận trọng: "Khi ta cắt hai cẳng của cào cào, nó sẽ trở nên... điếc".

Premise 1: If someone is deaf, he can’t do following what others say to him

Premise 2: The Grasshopper did not do following  the entomologist’ order

 Argument error:

This argument is weak because the conclusion is false.  The grasshopper didn’t jump up when the entomologist say because he had his legs cut. There is no relation to the deafness.

Premise 1 : if you use Maggi to cook, then your husband will eat at home

Premise 2: you use Maggi

Argument error:

This argument is weak because the first premise that is false leads to unsound conclusion. Actually, a wife with a good cooking skill, especially using Maggi,  is just a necessary condition, not a sufficient one, to attract her husband to eat at home.

Structure of argument :

Premise 1: the towel is only way used to dry your hands

Premise 2: New Kleenex hand towel is clean, fresh towel every time.

Argument error:

This argument is weak because premise 1  and premise  2 are false.. Premise 1 is wrong because there are many ways to dry the hands, not only use towel. Premise 2 is false because New Kleenex hand towel can’t be clean, fresh towel every time. Therefore, the conclusion is unsound
